curated by Alysha Collie, Raven John, Deborah Williams & Dallas Yellowfly
produced by Jordy Matheson

November 27, 28, December 4, 5, 2021, 1 pm – 4 pm

Inspired by Human Library created by Stop the Violence (Copenhagen)

After 9 years of curating and producing the Human Library, Zee Zee introduced Virtual Humanity, a new digital one-on-one platform for creating meaningful connections, twenty minutes at a time. Get a glimpse of the beauty and complexity of Two Spirit and Indigiqueer storytelling in this intimate and often life-changing exchange. One-on-one, even if we’re miles away.

Booking Process

The Virtual Humanity booking process is different than most events. You’ll follow a few steps that add some spontaneity and surprise in choosing your Storyteller bookings. Please read carefully before purchasing!

  1. Buy Your Ticket

Purchase a day-pass ticket (Ticket Sales Launch November 12). You will first need to create an account on WeShowUp, our ticketing platform. Find out more on our Online Events Made Easier page.

2. Book your storytellers

After reserving a day-pass ticket, you will receive an event confirmation email with the link to a booking portal. At 10am, on the day of the event, you will be able to reserve two “Virtual Humans” through this booking portal on a first-come-first-serve basis.

3. Storytime

At the start time of each of your bookings, follow the link to join the Virtual Humanity Zoom meeting. You’ll be greeted by a Virtual Humanity Host and matched with your Storyteller. In order to participate, you will need access to Zoom Video Calls. Find out more on our Online Events Made Easier page.

You’ll participate in an intimate, one-on-one conversation with your Storyteller, who will share their true story with you. If you booked two Storytellers, you’ll use the same Zoom link. Please arrive at your scheduled appointment time, do not arrive early.

4. Pay what it’s worth

We understand everyone has different circumstances, so Zee Zee is pricing tickets to ensure we include all financial positions. Following the event, you will receive an email prompting you to pay what it’s worth.

Zee Zee Theatre acknowledges that we live and work on the unceded traditional and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
